Jaw-dropping visuals, top-of-the-line dance moves, powerful vocals, and killer, unique, music videos make TWICE one of the top girl groups on the rise!
Formed by JYP Entertainment through a reality show called Sixteen, the group debuted on October 20, 2015.
The group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
Each of the nine members has her own unique appeal that separates her from the others and makes it impossible for fans to choose a bias.
Being a very diverse group – only about half of TWICE’s members are native Korean.
Momo, Mina and Sana are Japanese, while the group’s youngest member, Tzuyu, is Taiwanese.
Although she was raised in Japan, Mina was actually born in Texas, making her the group’s only American-born member.
RECORD AFTER RECORD
They became famous with their 2016 hit “Cheer Up!”- song that soon became the song of the year- and they’ve already had a major impact on the Korean mainstream.
While based in bubblegum pop, their high-energy singles have also been influenced by electronica, hip hop, jazz, rap and numerous other sounds.
TWICE’s unique calling card is holding to be true as they’re rising from the latest batch of girl groups.
The group’s name is a reference to their ability to capture the attention of audiences through both their visual and sonic abilities.
Proof of this ability stands also the fact that their newest music video has been watched over 100 million times on Youtube!
In under 10 hours, “Dance the Night Away” became TWICE’s most viewed music video within the first 24 hours of release, with 13 million views.
TWICE’s previous record for most views in under 24 hours was with “What Is Love?” which recorded 12.5 million.
“Dance the Night Away” was released as the title track for TWICE’s album “Summer Nights” on July 9.
On September 6, the music video hit 100 million views!
